festival headlined by Gorky`s, could it be true? It was and more!!! It was
the second Miri Madog festival at Porthmadog, Wales and this year also included
Topper, Big Leaves and Gwacamole on the bill. After watching Big L
eaves
it was time for Gorkys. It was strange seeing GZM on stage without John Lawrence
and Megan Childs. John had already left Gorky`s and Megan was unable to come
as she was bridesmaid at a wedding. To complement the line up ex- Ffa Coffi
Pawb member Rhodri Pew took the place of John (on tour last year he substituted
for Richard). As expected after loosing their lead guitarist and not having
Megan playing Violin they sounded a lot different with a rawer edge. Songs
like Merion Wyltt didn`t work as well but with songs as great as these it
didn`t matter that much.

here.
The crowd was enthusiastic and it was joy to hear everyone singing the last
part of Patio Song. The set was made up of mainly Barafundle and Gorky 5 tracks
but we were treated to some new tunes, another great cover of Fresher Than
The Sweetness In Water. Best of all was hearing Y Ffored Oren live for the
first time! When they came back for the encore they gave us Heart Of Kentucky
which went down well despite a slight mistake towards the end.
