Support: Derrero
Set List: (not in order)
When I saw this gig announced I knew I had to be there even though it's over 3 hours away from where I live. It is a home gig for the Gorky's in a venue where Euros and Megan once sang in the local choir. I found by chance when walking from out camp site into Tenby Heywood Lane (the street that inspired the track with the same name off Barafundle). I saw all the Gorky's, spoke to Megan and got my hands on a signed bucket and spade (oh not forgetting the rake and watering can!). Also by a strange twist of fate I bumped into someone who camped next to me at Glastonbury this year. After that I knew this weekend would be different.
The Pavilion is hidden away on a back street in Tenby and is a medium sized venue which has been used for everything (including boxing). I doubt it has seen anything like this! The walls were covered with posters for the Let's Get Together single and all the staff wore Gorky's T-shirts, bizarre.Support was provided by Dererro who tried to charm the audience who nervously stood around the back and sides of the main floor apart from one couple who gave a impromptu dance to some of their songs! It's a shame no one else took their lead as the band was really good. Also watching Dererro was the Gorky's who mingled with the crowd except for Megan who helped out on the merchandise stall (makes a change from bands who just stay in the dressing room).

When Dererro finished the crowd slowly moved towards the stage and eagerly waited for the Gorky's to appear. It wasn't too long before they came on and they launched into the opening song off the new album, 'The Tidal Wave'. After this they played 'Diamond Dew' which Euros said was a concept playing the first songs off the last 2 albums. An early highlight was Sweet Johnny which is brilliant live and during the middle of this song Euros gave his keyboards even more punishment (if it was possible) than at Glasto. The crowd, a strange mix of people from fans to holiday makers was now starting to warm to the Gorky's and 'Merched Yn Neud Gwallt Eu Gilydd' brought them to their feet and featured some great ad-libbing between John and Euros. The set ended with a brilliant 'Heart Of Kentucky' which merged into 'Good Vibrations' by the Beach Boys. The calls for an encore at the end where one of the most enthusiastic I've seen. The Gorky's returned with a spine chilling 'Blood Chant'. After that it was the long walk back to the camp site via Heywood Lane singing that song as we passed.
