Euros Childs (vocals/keyboards) formed Gorky`s at school with his friends James Lawrence (vocals/guitar) and Richard James (bass). Later they were joined by Euros Rowlands (drums) and Euros C`s sister Megan Childs (violin). They have so far released 5 albums which are - Patio, Tatay, Bwyd Time, Barafundle and Gorky 5. There is also a compilation album Introducing.... which includes tracks from Tatay and Bwyd Time and tracks from various EP`s like Why Are We Sleeping and Merched yn neud Gwallt eu Gilydd which are not available on the albums. John Lawrence has now left Gorky`s to form a new band after recording the Spanish Dance Troupe their first release for Mantra Records after being dropped by Fontana in 1998. After the infamous Mynci 2000 tour and recording soon to be released mini-album The Blue Trees, drummer Euros Rowlands left to carry on his carer in teaching and Rhodri Puw who has been helping out on guitar duties on tour has now become a full member of Gorky's. After Toppers split their drummer Peter Richardson has now joined Gorkys after playing drums on a few songs during Gorky's One Live In Cardiff performance.

When I first heard Patio Song I was hooked, here was a perfect pop song that was both funny and had more emotion than a million bland MOR songs. It should have blasted the charts apart but in the end just missed getting in the top 40. I picked up all their other albums and stuff and I wasn't disappointed. I've now seen them loads of times live but my fave concert was last year at the Tenby De Valens Pavilion where I met Megan and said hello to Euros. I was really annoyed when I found out they had been dropped by their record company but I know they will come back even stronger then before. As Euros put it at the Wolverhampton Varsity gig in October last year they sold their souls to the devil and now the devil has given them back!
